Mr.jack Heuer's Perception on Carrera
The interview was made in an afternoon in May.His main reason for this visit in Beijing was the Heuer Watch's New Product's Promotion Programme, and during this visit he took a special visit to Imperial Palace of the Ming and Qing Dynasties
During the interview, i noticed that he was wearing a Grand Carrera 17 wristwatch, and he told me he was very fond of this pattern.
The interview went on smoothly as the follow,with Q meaning questions and A Mr. Jack Heuer's answers.
Q: You decided to choose Carrera as the theme of your watch manufacture, was there any particular reason?
A: Carrera is the name of a long-distance cross-country race in Mexico, and i likes it very much,for it sounds powerful and allegoric, and it represents land, racing and broad view, which sounds perfect as the brand of a watch series.Carrera is the result of Heuer Team Work, for which i am just a consultant.I suggest that Carrera's unique style should be seserved, including its perfect design and its clear and consise lines.
Q: Is there any specific relation between Heuer Carrera and Porsche Carrera?
A: They do have relations.The long-distance cross-country race named Carrera is very dangerous,with a high rate of death and injury during numerous accidents.Therefore,Carrera Race was no longer held after the last one in 1956. Soon after, Porsche invented a sports car model,and named it Carrera to momerize Carrera Race.Meanwhile, we named our watches after the same name---Carrera.
Q: Grand Carrera adopts numerous innitiative technique, like the rotatable batholith.Would you please explain the detailed design principle and the technique features?
A: Three points can make it clear.First is its rotation system, which can be used as a stopwatch, a timekeeper, and it also can be used to show two time zones.The feature of withmultifunction represented in one way is its most distinctive character. The second one is its watch buckle with double functions of protection.The third one is that although it is complicated in function, it is still concise,clear, and elegant.
Q: It is known that Heuer is very mature and experienced in machin cores manufacture, but at this Basell Watch Exibition, a new model with ZENITH Time Core was promoted.Was there any particular reason?
A: This is a critical question.First of all, ZENITH is our twin brand under LVMH Mo?t Hennessy - Louis Vuitton, not our competitor brand. The second reason is that, ZENITH Time Core's shake amplitude is 36,000 times an hours, that is 10 times in a second, while ours is 360,000 times an hour, 100 times in a second. The speed of our's is ten times of ZENITH's, that is it can record an accuracy to 0.1 second, but it is not possible to show 0.1 second clearlly on the watch. The third reason is that our watch needs to numerate 0.1 second, so we need the 36,000- shake-amplitude machine core to display 0.1 second.ZENITH has already got this this machine core and we belong in the same Group, so what is the point of making efforts to produce the same core?
Q: Dose Heuer have any origin relationship with Olympics and sports?
A: Between 1920 and 1932, Heuer watch has been appointed the fixed time instrument for 4 continuous years in Olympic Games because Siwss watch was in crisis during the 70s,and even the basic time instrument would take at least 100 wachmaking craftsmen's effort. At that time, not a single brand could meet such a large demand.Therefore, in 1980's Mexico Olympics, the instrument was accomplished together by several brands in Switzerland, including Omega,Longines,Heuer,ect.Later, thinking that Heuer is famous for its accuracy in timing,while in Olympic Games, speed is not much emphasized, so we considered seceding from the Olympic Games but devoting to skiing,speedy racing and the like.We want to challenge ourselves in high -point, in speed and resistance.
